A New Generation: Today’s Faces of Gilda’s Club
Although many young adults do not know Gilda Radner, her legacy has inspired them to make sure that everyone touched by cancer, especially young adults, have Gilda’s Club to count on for social and emotional support.
In celebration of Young Adult Cancer Awareness Week in April, members of Gilda’s Club Western PA’s “Living with Cancer in your 20’s and 30’s” networking group came together with a new idea designed to create awareness and honor young adults while providing financial support for ongoing programming at Gilda’s Club Western PA.
Thus A New Generation: Today’s Faces of Gilda’s Club was born. In this inaugural year, this group of forty “faces” is determined that young adults in this region and anyone touched by cancer will be able to come to Gilda’s Club for a free program to address their social and emotional needs.
Congratulations to our forty inaugural members of Today’s Faces of Gilda’s Club. Join us at the Pittsburgh Improv on Thursday, September 17, 2009 where our forty faces will be recognized and honored and the results of their fundraising efforts will be announced.

A message for local comedians: As part of the September 17 event, we will be announcing the winner of the Gilda's Club Comic Search. Comics are invited to perform an open mic five minute set on June 16, July 29, and August 26. Winners from each evening will then advance to the finale on the 17th where a grand prize winner will be announced.
